Surha Taal Bird Sanctuary Ballia

Surha Taal was earlier just a lake and was attracting many birds and animals. Due to the presence of this huge lake and suitable climate, slowly this place also became a home for few migratory birds from the colder regions of the world. Finally, in 1991 Divisional forest officer declared this lake as Bird Sanctuary. This sanctuary falls under forest division of Kashi village.
Importance of Surha Taal
This lake is very important for Ballia as it covers a large area of the city. There is a huge fountain which is built at one of the ends of this lake. The fountain is built in the memory of all freedom fighters who lost their lives for the country. If you go deep into the lake, you will find weed siwar in huge quantities.The main lake of Surha Taal which is about 34 sq kilometer is worth watching. The peaceful and calm water gives a serene experience. Apart from the lake, there are various species of birds and animals which are found in Surha Taal and are worth watching. In winters you will also find few Siberian birds which migrate here for a temporary period. It is highly possible that you see many birds and animals drinking water near this lake.
