History of Bhrigu Temple
The temple is built in the loving memory of Bhrigu Baba or Bhrigu saint. Bhrigu baba was one of the famous saints in Ballia. Years ago, many localities use to believe and follow him. He was known for his selfless act and kindness. He had done many such deeds in order to be reputed and respected amongst the localities. The entire city of Ballia is famous due to the very existence of Bhrigu temple. Till date the localities of Ballia and nearby towns have faith in Bhrigu Baba and, hence, visit this temple to offer their prayers during all auspicious occasions. The Bhrigu temple has its own significance. The people of Ballia believe that each auspicious work needs to be started with the blessings of Bhrigu Baba. It is also believed that if newly married couples seek blessings at Bhrigu temple, they lead a successful life. Most families held the ceremony of Ladki Dekhai; bride meeting the grooms family perform here. It is also believed that saint Bhriju sojourned at this place and hence his temple became most important in Ballia. As per the Indian history, it is strongly believed that thousands of rishi munis have performed pooja at this location making this place divine. Additionally, it is belived that Bhrigu Muni has written Bhrigu Samhita which is supposed to be a document pertaining to future predictions of humans.Apart from the mentioned importance, this temple is also known for its Dadri fair or Dadri festival. This is the second largest cattle fair in India. This fair is held every year in the months of October during Kartika Poornima.
Bhrigu Ashram
Bhrigu temple also has Bhrigu Ashram. This was the place where saint Bhrigu use to live and hence it is named as Bhrigu Ashram. Here you will also find one huge Amla tree on the backside of the ashram. This tree is considered to be auspicious for conducting various poojas and kathas.Other Temples in Bhrigu Ashram
Bhrigu temple is the main temple; however, there are many small temples inside Bhrigu temple. Out of the multiple small temples, Devi Mata temple and Shiv temple are of utmost importance.Bhrigu Temple is about one to one and half kilometre away from Ballia railway station. You can visit this temple in a hand pulled rickshaw or you can opt to walk. A hand pulled rickshaw will cost you Rs fifteen one way from the station. The temple is located just opposite Vishal Mega Shopping Mall.
